Actualizando Libre-Cad

LibreCad is the prefered CAD tool to draw in 2D. The facts that it is in the ubuntu repositories, it have GPL licence and a good stability level make me decide for it.

In order to have avaliable the last stable LibreCad i followed the LibreCad website tips and i added the follow repositories :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable

There are too the daily build PPA for test, but not for me.
I hope it serves to you. Don't forget update and upgrade ...

Interesting programs for ubuntu ...

This post want to be a list of my favourite programs that i normally run or install after a clean ubuntu installation. I hope this list will be usefull for you as it is for me.

Xournal : pdf files viewer usefull for highlight content on. It generates separeted file that describe where is the highlight.

LibreCad : 2D simple CAD (Computer Aid Design) program for draw technical stuff. You can store the files in .dxf format.

Chromium : Free web browser , similar to google chrome, seems to run a little bit lighter than Firefox that in this days give me some problems.

AdBlock Plus : This is an extension for the browsers  that blocs the banners , pop-ups and video advertisings. Really  Nice ... surf the web without the annoying ads. They must to be installed form the same browser like an extension. Enjoy it !!

Midori : Another Web browser more lighter that the others ones. when i looking for information normaly i use it.

Unity Tweak Tool : Really interesting aplication with what you can add some functionalitys to unity. I like a lot the hot corners... I realized just now that they don't work after a reboot... mmmm

Grub Customizer : Its usefull if you intall ubuntu and other OS on the same computer ..
https://launchpad.net/~danielrichter2007/+archive/ubuntu/grub-customizer

Synaptic : Even normally i use command line to install packages, i like Synaptic package manager much more than ubuntu software center. I find it more flexible ...

Wine  : Normally i didn't use windows, but for some big reason sometimes i need to use some program that are not on linux ... Then i use it ...

sudo chmod 777 /usr/share/librecad/library

sudo chown usuario:usuario /usr/share/librecad/library/templates
cd /home/usuario/Plantillas
ln -s /usr/share/librecad/library/templates/ LibreCad

Windows:  C:\Archivos de programa\librecad\resources\library

To convert a set of images in a pdf in comand line.

sudo apt-get install imagemagick
convert -compress jpeg * outputFile.pdf
This will compress you jpeg images but if you don't want that your images will be compressed the may be will e usefull another tool called img2pdf. I didn't tried it yet , may be when i need it. For the moment convert comand it's usefull for my pourposes.

It's usefull, isn't it?
But if you really want to use a graphical interface you can try gscan2pdf that have other utilities like ORC (Optical Character Recognition)

Firefox Profiles

Firefox profiles are useful to separate diferent digital identities of one self. Each one stores the personal information of each identity you choose like cookies, accounts, passwords, navigation history, preferences, etc. This is useful to separate my work and personal life.

To create a new profile just run in a console > firefox -P
And this will open the profile window that allow you create, rename or erase your profiles.
The only limitation that i found is that you can not open two profiles at same time, that is really a shame.

Using Lubuntu i did two shortcuts on desktop, and i modified them to launch different profiles. I changed the comand firefox %u to firefox -P nameprofile.
